I can’t tell whether I admire this or am horrified: a 16-year-old girl, who is a guest at a party my daughter is attending tonight, bicycled four hours through a major metropolitan area to get there. Her parents instructed her to be home by midnight, so she was planning to leave the party at 8 pm to bike home again. In the cold, dark, and rain. Instead, the party hosts are taking her home.

Too quick gut reaction: the parents of the 16 year old girl are totally irresponsible, bordering on child abuse and should be reported to the Dept. of Human Services. The 16 year old is a gutsy kid…yet her decision lacks good judgment. The entire family needs counseling.

After the host parents took the girl and her bicycle home, they were even more horrified at
how far it was.
